Closed Loop Systems

Closed loop commercial systems typically involve drilling multiple wells and domestic systems typically involve drilling a single well for smaller dwellings, but can involve drilling several wells for larger properties. These are smaller diameter wells as compared to open loop systems and involve the installation of a 32mm or 40mm diameter HDPE loop in each well.

Once installed the HDPE loops are surrounded by a thermally enhanced pressure injected grout, which offers optimum thermal conduction. The loops are pressure tested and certified to confirm their integrity.

Once all of the wells have been installed, they are then connected to a GSHP (Ground Source Heat Pump) using pipework and manifolds installed within sub-surface trenches. The GSHP’s are normally installed in plant rooms.
Once all of the components of the system have been installed and connected, the system is pressure tested, commissioned and certified to confirm its integrity and functionality.

Elliott Ground Source have capabilities drill to depths up to 250 metres deep to allow space requirements to be kept to a minimum and have a broad knowledge of drilling techniques for all UK geologies as the drilling crew have combined industry experience of over 50 years.
